The time has come-- 4 weeks Later :)

Macy has finally awoken! My sweet, sleepy girl is beginning to accept that she is part of this loud and crazy world. She has been a-snoozin’ for the past 3 1/2 weeks and I have been enjoying life--just soaking up every second with the sweetness of a newborn.

Tyson is still a typical boy when it comes to his sister. He talks sweet to her when she cries (which is rare—honestly) but other than that, I am not sure he knows that she is around. He has never tried to pick her up—my biggest fear, but has asked me to put her down a couple times :). He just goes about his day as if she wasn’t here, but he never forgets her, either. If we are going somewhere or saying prayers, “mom, we gotta get babe Mace.”… FUNNY… Boys!

So here’s her story as I remember it 4 weeks ago…

We UNFORTUNATELY made it to our induction day, which was Monday the 30th of March. (PS I tried to have her on the 26th but it was a “false alarm”… I went in having contractions—never had those with Tyson b/c my water broke (didn’t know how lucky I was with that!) so when they were regular and painful I went in, only to be sent home 3 hours later b/c I had only dilated 2 cm instead of the necessary 3—you have to dilate 1 cm an hour to be in active labor… I was sad and cried the whole way home.)

So, for the REAL big day, the hospital was to call us early that morning with the time they wanted us to come in. So at about 5:20 am I woke up thinking they forgot us, or that too many [lucky] women had arrived that night in labor (they are the priority, you know). Anyway, a few minutes later, (at exactly 5:43 am) we got a call from the hospital asking us if we could be there in the next 30 minutes. We said of course and off we went. (And if I am being completely detailed, the nurse calling us also said, “When I saw your name I said, ‘she already had her baby. I admitted her a few days ago.’” I told her I tried my hardest, but that the baby played a mean trick on me. She said, “Well, let’s have her today.” Of course I agreed to that.)

My mom, dad and youngest two siblings were here for Faith’s graduation, so we told my mom and left Tyson with Shelby and Tyler. I got ready and off we went, my mom and Greg mocking me the entire way to UVRMC (they discussed my extremely HIGH tolerance for pain, my neurosis—I had laid out mine and Greg’s clothes, and left clothes for Tyson to be brought to the hospital in, and of course, they (mostly G), teased about the false alarm). We got checked in and FINALLY hooked up to all of the monitors by 8:30. I was fortunate enough to have a student nurse assisting my nurse, so things took 3 times as long, including the IV—3 times to get that baby right, OUCH!… Apparently no one had told them how ANXIOUS I was.

I got my epidural around 10:30 and dilated quickly. I had my water broken (ironically by the very nurse whom I had begged to break it on Thursday, but who couldn’t b/c “that is technically inducing labor and I was still a couple days away from 39 weeks when it was legal to do so”---BLAAAA! I thought it was funny that she came in to break my water. She even remembered me…) Anyhoo… (For anyone who is still reading), I was ready to push just before 1:00, but we had to wait for my doctor. She got there and by the time she got set up, it was 1:10. I had Macy at 1:21. SOOO MUCH EASIER THE SECOND TIME AROUND! I should have faked a little with the labor and recovery, because I got almost NO sympathy from my Love--- Next time I take an acting class beforehand.

My epidural could not have been more perfect. I thought my epidural with Tyson was good, but this one was 100% right-on-the-money. I didn’t have to push my drip at all… I didn’t feel any pain, but I felt tons of pressure. I was able to push really effectively, with no ripping (TMI??). When Macy was born I though she was going to be tiny because she came out so easily. Tyson was 6 lbs. 11 oz., 19 inches long , 2 weeks early, and Macy was 7 Lbs. 3 oz., 19 ½ inches long, one week early. I feel VERY fortunate to have had such great deliveries. I really thought Tyson’s was perfect until little Mace came along. AND THE CHERRY ON MY SUNDAE was that my mom was there! How special was that. The baby-loving woman who has borne 8 children, had never seen a birth until little Macy. It was so neat to have her there.

So, there it is… The story of how Macy Faith FINALLY came into our family. Shhesh looking at these pictures I can see how much she has already changed—sad!

At the hospital...Yeah
A Little too excited...
FINALLY, all hooked up--let's get started!

Waiting for the doctor...

She's Here!!

Tyson meets Baby Mace
So, obviously she has hair... When she was crowning, the Dr. was PLAYING WITH HER HAIR... Funny and kind of weird at the same time. My doctor has a 4 month old at home, who apparently doesn't have as much hair as Macy, so she was very into her hair. My mom and Greg said it was so funny, every time I would get her head to "that point" she would run her fingers through the hair and comment on it... I don't remember that happening so much... I guess I was too busy keeping my eye on the prize...

Tell me you airbrushed that tummy of yours...absolutely gorgeous!! and is there any remnant of baby tummy left 4 weeks later? I would venture to say no with you girl.

I knew Tyson would be great with her and sounds like he's just doing his duty of taking care of the Ladies in the house while Daddy's gone.

Can't wait to meet her.
