Christmas in Utah was great, of course. My family came up a couple days before and stayed until New Year's, so I had the best of both worlds. Tyson loved the snow and all playing with all of his cousins. Greg spent a lot of his time with his brothers doing boy things (snowboarding, snowmobiling, hunting, playing guitar hero :P, etc.), but we (me and Ty) were okay letting him go, since we knew he needed a break from school. Greg did show up just long enough to give me a lesson in snowboarding, however.
Now, only because my mother was in town to watch our little Prince, did I dare go SNOWBOARDING. Yes, go ahead and laugh! For those of you who aren't aware of my athletic ability--or the lack there of, you don't know me--so, quit reading and get out of here, you have no business on my blog. I probably was hilarious to watch. By the end of the day, (on my 4th run down the mountain--yes, it took all day to get down 4 times!) I made it down the ENTIRE mountain, (I rode the lift ALL the way to the top) with only a few falls. I think I counted that I fell 4 times. Now I did absolutely nothing fancy, and I did not go very fast at all, but I did make it down...alive and with no broken appendages. I did better than Greg thought I would--which is saying a WHOLE lot b/c G doesn't give me much credit for anything in the strength/endurance department. I have only gotten those sweet words, "Wow, Sweetie, you did better than I thought you would..." twice in my married life. Once was after birthing our son, and the other was on this day. Anyway, we had a fun time. I would like to go again, just as soon as they invent something other than the ski lift to get you to the top of the hill. I had my worst falls getting off that chair! And, from the pictures, you can see that my significant other is a DIE HARD snowboarder, so he did not want me bringing him down when I fell out of the lift. He showed no mercy when we were getting off the lift because he did not want me to scratch his board. He would push off me to get away from me when we were de-lifting (that's my word). I guess that was okay since I was going down anyway. Check out his gear in the photo! Does he look like he is on Ski Patrol or what?? (The helmet, which I learned is NOT nerdy, but for the experienced, and well-ridden, was his backup entertainment in case I gave up. When he hooks it up to his phone he can listen to tunes.) He and Shaun, my sister Faith's love, were very nice and patient with me. Thanks to them, I did not hurt myself (too badly) or anyone else!
I will spare you the long, elaborate details of everything else we did in UT. We did have a great time. We can't wait (well, I kind of can) to be there in 5 months! Wow! Here are just a few pictures from the trip.

Wow Noel! I'm proud you did so well snowboarding! I can relate to how hard it is! I took a snowboarding class while I was at BYU. It was fun but unfortunately, I did hurt myself a few times! Good job!
This post made me miss you!
Oh Noel! I can just picture you snowboarding!! Ha Ha. I can't tease you too much though because I've never even attempted so you are way ahead of me!!
OH MY NOEL!!! You did just as well as I did my first and ONLY time snowboarding. Im not sure that i am willing to go again soon. I did go in high school with Leanna and the ski lift was the worst part for me as well. They had to STOP THE LIFT so we could get out of the way, and others could get off without running us over. SO embarassing for me!
oh & i would have totally thought that was nerdy as well... Greg's gear! the full on helmet... TOO funny!
OH and how was Ty's first birthday?
Sounds like a really good trip. I agree with the nerdy helmet but now that I am a little older I think that I would end up wearing one also. Saftey First!!
Looks like you guys had a great Christmas and long vacation! LOL I can totally picture you getting off the ski lift...totally funny, I have gone on the lift before too, pretty crazy but FUN! I actually like the helmet and gear...I would feel COOL with that on! :)
