The Pros For Me

There are things that I absolutely LOVE about being a mom... and then, there are a few things that I absolutely do NOT love. I realized this when I started TyTy on baby food. Until then, I think I loved everything about motherhood. However, with baby food topping the list for the not so fun, I have come up with a few more things that I don't enjoy about this little job I have, so I'll start with that list. Keep in mind that the "Love List" was narrowed down to the absolute 10 most loved duties of the job for me, because I could go on for quite awhile about what I enjoy.

I DO NOT LOVE:
1. Introducing/the feeding of baby food. YUCK. Until I decided that I was not going to force this issue, this was the part of my day I looked forward to the least. Yes, you could say that I hated feeding Tyson. He did not (and does not) like baby food... So one day I decided that I would give him a slightly more mashed version of what I was having... And he loved it. He had potatoes and carrots from our roast, and ate more than I had ever seen him eat, so that was the end of something awful, and the beginning of a much happier time for me. No more baby food for us!

2. Changing diapers. I didn't mind the breast milk ones so much, but now that Tyson is on solids, I am a little depressed. I cannot stand stinky diapers. But, unless Tyson is a toilet prodigy, I think I will have to get over this one...

3. Putting Tyson to bed. I have this little problem... As soon as I put Tyson down for a nap, or in bed for the night (unless it has been an especially hard day--rare) I want to play with him. I think I have separation anxiety... Poor kid. He is doomed for life. Although Greg told me this morning that he dreamt I was pregnant. Wouldn't that be something?? I NEED another baby, so I hope that was a little glimpse of our very near future he was having. Which brings me to #4-

4. How fast Tyson is growing. I can't write anymore because I will start crying. He is very close to being one year old. Yes, already. I can't stand it.

5. Spit up. I am not a fan. Oh yeah, and the burping stage. I really did not like working for those burps when Tyson was a babe--glad that's over!

That's all that really bugs me (at the moment). Now,

I LOVE:
1. Getting Tyson out of bed. He is sooo excited to see me peek over, into his crib in the morning, that he shrieks with joy and flails his limbs about in excitement. Every morning starts off great for me.

2. When "TyTy the Crawling Guy" makes it over to the TV (and other such media equipment), and then looks back with a smile to find me, because he knows I am coming to get him.

3. Slobbery, wet kisses! Did I really enjoy kissing before I knew this kind existed??

4. Watching Tyson figure things out. It is just amazing. I can't believe how he learns to do certain things. Crawling and eating, for example--Two things we are mastering. No one in our house crawls around, yet Tyson has figured out that he can get around that way. Each day he gets better and better at that. Eating, too, is so fun to watch. He has no teeth (much to Greg's dismay) yet moves his jaw, mashing his food before he swallows it, as if he were really chewing.

5. Babbling. I love listening to Tyson talk. I have hours of video (let me know if you want to watch) of me spying on him while he is playing and talking so sweetly to himself, or someone that we can't see. The laughing too, of course, just makes me smile. I love making Tyson laugh, and watching him find things that are amusing/entertaining to him.

6. Buying baby clothes! This is definitely a highlight of motherhood for me :) --And then when Tyson lets me play dress up with him--an added bonus.

7. The grunting and red "pushing out my solid poopy" face he gets when he is getting business done. This is a new one for me--but I love it. The grunting that accompanies is not new-- and still loved (am I a sick person?? It is just so cute/amusing to watch him work so hard.)

8. The panting, kicking and squealing that occurs anytime I lay Tyson across my lap... He loves to eat! And then the cries of impatience when I can't get his "bobba" ready/out fast enough.

9. The open mouth smile.

10. The way Tyson thinks that I am the best thing on earth. He is so excited to see me, and to have me play with him--it just makes my day. Little does he know, I am 100 times more excited to be with him... Maybe he does know. I hope so.

Oh NoEL HE IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL BOY!! I loved this post. I really needed it too, cause I'm getting depressed (already) about having my baby leave the precious newborn stage. It made me happy to hear about the fun things that await, like a HUGE smile when I go in to get her in the mornings. Well, those pictures seriously were the cutest ever.

Noel,

That was really sweet, I am excited to be a mother one day and I appreciate you giving a fair evaluation of your job! I love reading your updates and I am excited to meet you. Lindsay said she would introduce you to me when I am there in Jacksonville.
